Current Situation
On Saturday July 4, 2020 at 10:52 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm vegetation fire assignment to the open land space at Valley Drive X Misty Ridge. Firefighters arrived on scene to discover a 2-acre vegetation fire burning in annual grasses being held by two dirt roads. Firefighters had difficult time making access to due to the fire being remote in the open land space. A second alarm was requested. Witnesses reported several vehicles in the area off roading and lighting off fireworks. Firefighters contained the fire to two acres. There were no firefighter injuries. After investigation the fire cause is undetermined, but more than likely fireworks were the cause. There were numerous dispensed firework mortar’s in the immediate area of the fire. A total of 21 firefighters and one chief officer responded.
