Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to report of a residential structure fire in the 2800 block of Vermont Avenue. Upon arrival, Riverside Firefighters found a single family dwelling with a smoldering attic fire. Riverside Firefighters utilized thermal imaging equipment to locate the source and extent of the fire in the attic. The roof and ceiling of the home was opened up to extinguish the fire and remove burning insulation and debris. There were nine occupants that were displaced from the home, but all were able to find alternative residences. The cause of the fire was an electrical failure above the kitchen. Riverside Firefighters remained at the scene for 2 hours to overhaul and salvage the home. There were no civilian or firefighters injuries during the incident.
