    Current Situation

    The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire.  Upon arrival firefighters discovered a single story out building, about 1000 square feet in size, fully involved with fire. There was an immediate exposure to the side of the structure at 2859 9th Street.  A pickup truck on their property was damaged by heat as well as a washer and dryer. The building addressed 2850 University had damage to their lean too, wall, and flashing for the roof.

    All units were advised of the power lines overhead and utilities was requested to expedite. Public Utilities was requested to shut the power from their facility but did not.

    The fire was a defensive fire. Crews made an aggressive attack and extinguished the blaze.

    An additional truck and two engines were requested as there was a possibility of fire extension into 2850 University.

    Arson Investigators responded and conducted an investigation.  After the investigation, the Investigators were unable to determine the cause of the fire. 

    The building was released to the building owner.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. 

    Utilities advised the would restore power at 0630 in the AM.
