Current Situation
On Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 12:50 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the 10200 block of Selkirk Ave. Firefighters arrived to find a single-story, single-family structure with heavy fire and smoke coming from the attached garage. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the garage, conducted a primary search, and no occupants were found. Firefighters did discover two pets in the residence, and they were removed. One dog was able to be revived on scene, and the other dog was deceased. The dog that was revived was transported to a local animal emergency hospital in critical condition. The homeowner was treated on scene by Firefighter/Paramedics and transported by AMR to a local area hospital for smoke inhalation that occurred while attempting to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters performed salvage and overhaul. On duty investigators conducted an investigation and determined the cause of the fire was electrical. Red Cross was requested to the scene for three displaced Adults and one child. The home was turned over to the landlord.
