Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a multifamily dwelling apartment complex on fire in the 1900 Block of 7th Street. Upon arrival, Riverside City Firefighters found a well-involved apartment unit on the 1st floor of a 3-story apartment building. They also found 2 subjects down on the front lawn. Riverside firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire from the exterior and focus their attention to ensuring all occupant were with either out of the building or sheltering in their apartments. Firefighters contacted all occupants and kept most of them safe in their apartments until smoke could be removed from main hallways by fans. The two subjects on the front lawn were evaluated by Riverside City Fire Paramedics with assistance from AMR ambulance. Both patients, one the occupant of the apartment that burned, and another a visitor were released. A third patient was also evaluated but not transported. The fire destroyed one apartment unit and caused smoke damage to the exterior of two other units. Firefighters removed water and smoke from the 1st floor. The buildings manager was issued violation notices for lack of access keys to the building.
