    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a single-family dwelling structure fire in the 1100 Block of Aardmore St. The 1st due Engine Company reported a working attic fire at the residence. An additional Engine Company and an AMR ambulance were requested to the scene due to the 100 plus degree heat. Riverside Firefighters performed a simultaneous attack on the burning attic from the roof while firefighters in the interior of the structure deployed salvage covers to protect the occupant’s furniture and belongings from smoke and water damage. Nearly half the attic was destroyed, but the interior remained largely undamaged. Due to the excessive heat, Riverside Firefighters worked in shifts to remove water from the interior and search for smoldering insulation in the attic. Due to damage to electrical and water lines, the homes 4 adults and 3 children, along with a dog and cat were displaced. Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with finding shelter for the family. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries during the incident.
