Current Situation
On Monday October 12, 2020 at 11:22 a.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a vegetation fire 1st alarm response to the area of Mission Inn X Santa Ana River for reports of a vegetation fire and tree fire in the Fairmount Park location. Battalion 1 arrived on scene at Fairmount Park to the rear next to the VFW Post to find 1 one-acre vegetation fire with multiple spots in light to heavy fuels. The fire was starting to ember cast onto the residential neighborhood on Bubbling Wells. The incident was upgraded to three alarms. Incident was named the Fairmount Incident. A total of 7 engines, two brush trucks, two chief officers and 4 overhead support staff responded to the incident. The fire was held at just over an acre. Several homeless individuals were evacuating the area upon arrival. The fire originated in a homeless encampment, however, after investigation the cause of the fire was undetermined. Numerous hazardous trees were mitigated during the incident for firefighter safety and overhaul. A total of 41 personnel responded to the incident. There were no firefighter injuries and no equipment damage. There was no damage to the residential neighborhood.
