Current Situation
At 0217 hours, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Central and Lochmoor. The first due engine company arrived on scene and reported a vegetation fire on the hillside north of the intersection of Central Avenue and Lochmoor Street. The fire was approximately 1 acre in size with a moderate rate of spread with a structure threat along Lochmoor in the City of Riverside, and along Dartmouth in the county area. A second alarm was requested along with a response from Cal Fire. Riverside City firefighters, with assistance from Cal Fire established a progressive hose lay up the hillside to stop the forward progress of fire. The fire was held to 1 acre with no damage to structures in the city or county. City and county firefighters remained on scene for about 2 hours to completely contain the fire. The fire is suspicious in nature due to its location further up the hillside. There were no injuries and no property damage during the incident.
