    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of University Avenue and the northbound 215 on-ramp. Upon arrival, Riverside firefighters found a fire burning in a drainage adjacent to the freeway on-ramp. The onramp to the northbound 215 freeway was closed to allow firefighting equipment to access the fire and quickly knock it down. A brush truck was called to the scene to assist with cutting up branches from a large tree that had burned. The fire was started in a homeless encampment just below the tree. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident. Riverside Firefighters remained at the scene for just over an hour to mop-up the fire.
