Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a commercial structure fire at Carpenter Company. In route, a visible black column of smoke was seen from a distance and multiple callers to the 911 service center. The first in engine advise flames and heavy smoke upon arrival, 2nd alarm was requested and crews engaged in fire attack. Two Truck companies were assigned to the roof with an above ground water supply application to attack the fire. The crews were able to take the heat out of the fire from below. However, the fire attack from the roof crews extinguished the blaze.
The fire originated from an overheated commercial motor used to move foam particles (small pieces) through a 24 inch pipe from one end of the business to the opposite end for collection. The motor’s shroud had a small hole which possibly blew foam particles from the piping. The collection of the foam was on or near the overheated motor and caught fire. The fire extended on the roof to one of the skylights. The cause of the fire was an overheated commercial blower motor.
After the fire was extinguished and the investigation was complete, overhaul commenced.
The building was then turned over to Carpenter’s Employee
