Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the Complete Coach Works at 1863 Service Ct. Upon arrival, the 1st due Engine Company reported a fire in an engine repair enclosure at the facility. Riverside Firefighters stretched handlines into the enclosure to knock down the fire. Further investigation revealed that the fire had started in a homeless encampment located along the railroad tracks and adjacent to the enclosure. The radiant heat from the fire ignited the enclosures plastic covering as well as engine parts and oil located with the enclosure. Riverside Firefighters used a rotary saw to cut a security fence to reach the fire along the railroad tracks. Service to the railroad was not affected by the fire. The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes, but firefighters remained on scene for another hour to mop-up. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
