Current Situation
On Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 8:28 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire at the Villa Maria Apartment Complex located at 4709 Arlington Ave. Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered a working fire in a second-floor unit. Firefighters performed an aggressive fire attack and contained the fire to the apartment of origin.
A primary search was completed in the involved apartment and the adjacent units. All residents had evacuated prior to our arrival. The cause of the fire was unintentional due to an unattended pot of oil cooking on the stove.
Five residents were displaced from two apartments. Two residents were provided housing through the property manager. Three residents advised they was be staying with family members.
A total of 21 firefighters and one chief officer responded to the incident. There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries.
