Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival we had several occupants stating that they saw and smelled smoke coming out of a two story 12 unit apartment complex. Upon our investigation we found the lower end unit, locked with smoke stained glass windows. Crew had to force entry and initiated fire attack. Upon entry into the front door we were challenged with heavy smoke coming from the apartment.
The fire was located in the kitchen and possibly started by food left on the stove. The fire extended into the microwave and kitchen cabinets. Once the fire was extinguished, we exhausted all the smoke out the structure and rescued a dog that was located during the primary search.
The property manager and assistant manager were on scene . The occupant was notified of the incident and had requested Red Cross for assistance. Crews checked for fire extension and overhauled the apartment.
There were no firefighters injured in this incident.
