    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On September 21, at 1006 A.M., the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 5700 Block of Grand Ave.  Upon arrival crews discovered a working attic fire in a small residential structure to the rear of the main house.  Fire crews performed an aggressive fire attack from the roof and the interior.  The fire was placed under control at 1020 AM.  Two residents were displaced due to the smoke and fire damage.  They declined services from Red Cross and made arrangements to seek shelter with family in the main house on the property.  The cause of the fire appeared to be due to a water heater malfunction.  The water heater was located in an attached structure to the rear of the home.  The fire started at that location and spread to the attic space and interior.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
