Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the Airport Inn Motel. The first arriving unit reported a working structure with heavy smoke and flames showing from the second story of a two story motel. A second alarm consisting of two additional engines and one truck company was requested along with one AMR ambulance. An aggressive fire attack was initiated as well as a search of the rooms for potential victims. The fire was brought under control at 2010 hours, and was confined to the motel room of origin with extension to multiple adjoining rooms. An arson investigator responded and determined that the fire originated in or near the closet area of the room. The cause of the fire was undetermined after a thorough investigation. The loss was estimated at $150000 with a save of $850000. There were 8 displaced persons. The Red Cross was contacted and is working with the Motel manager to secure housing for those who were displaced. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
