Current Situation
At 1711 the City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to Anza Narrows Park for a hiker who had become disoriented and lost in the Santa Ana river bottom. Working in conjunction with the City of Riverside Police and Fire Dispatch center, we were able to locate the lost hiker utilizing a cellular phone signal. ATV 1 from station 1 was requested along with RPD Air 1 to find the best route and make access to the hiker. The individual began his hike from Carlson Bark Park near Mt. Rubidoux at 1500 and became lost approximately 3 miles West nearest Anza Narrows Park. Working in conjunction with Air 1, personnel from ATV 1 were able to safely locate the individual as well as his dog, and safely transport them out of the Santa Ana river bottom at 1845. Neither the hiker, his dog, nor any fire personnel were injured during the rescue.
