    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

At 1536 hours the City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of 5900 Tequesquite behind the solar farm.  The fire was located in an area next to where another vegetation fire burned yesterday.  The first arriving unit found a 1/2 acre brush fire burning in heavy vegetation being fed by winds and aided by high temperatures and low humidity.  Due to the location of the fire burning both in the City of Riverside and the County response area, mutual aid was requested from Cal Fire.  A total of 47 firefighters were on scene throughout the day.  The fire was brought under control at 1630.  Firefighters will be on scene throughout the night and into tomorrow morning for full extinguishment and overhaul.  The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation.  There were numerous homeless encampments in the area which had been repopulated after the fire yesterday.
