Current Situation
On June 1st, 2022 at 7:55 PM, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4000 block of 4th St. The first arriving unit on scene reported a working fire in a two story apartment building. There was moderate smoke issuing from a second floor apartment. Fire department crews made an aggressive attack on the fire and rescue a dog trapped on a balcony. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin and placed under control at 8:15 PM.
Five residents were displaced from the apartment building due to the fire, smoke, and water damage. Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents with short term housing.
The cause of the fire was undetermined but likely accidental due an electrical fault/batteries.
