Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire off Valley Way, near Mitchell. The first due engine reported a well involved vehicle approximately 300 feet from the roadway in the middle of a large mulch pile field. Fire was spreading to the mulch. The engine Captain requested 2 additional engines, 1 brush engine, and a water tender. Resources arrived and made access to the vehicle to initiate fire attack. Spread to the mulch was minimized, however, the mulch was 4-6' deep at the location of the vehicle fire and overhaul was extensive. Heavy equipment from Streets was requested and arrived later in the incident. The area was overhauled for several hours to completely extinguish all burning material. The vehicle was a total loss. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
