Current Situation
On Tuesday August 9, 2022, at 2:57 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to the 1100 Block of Blain Street at the Woodlands Private Condominium Complex for reports of a balcony on fire. Firefighters arrived to find a balcony on a second floor fully involved and impinging on the apartment. Firefighters performed an aggressive fire attack along with rescuing a dog out of the apartment the family pet. The pet has escaped the homeowner and animal control was called to assist. The homeowner received burns form the fire and was transported to a local area trauma center.
The Condo suffered heat and smoke damage was not habitable. There were two displaced adults who were to seek shelter with family and friends. There was no other firefighter or civilian injuries.
The cause of the fire was the homeowner using Wasp Spray Pesticide to attempt to remove a Wasp nest from the balcony, as the homeowner use the Wasp spray, he was lighting it on fire to remove the Wasp. The outdoor balcony furniture caught on fire.
The loss is estimated at $50,000 with a save of $1,500,000
