On November 13, 2022, at 10:56 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire assignment to the 4400 Block of Howard for reports of a dumpster on fire near a business. As Firefighters arrived on scene the fire involved a homeless camp next to a business and the fire had extended into several palm trees, storage material for Solar Max Business located at 3080 12th St along with fire extending into the commercial warehouse. The incident was escalated to 4 four alarms.
Firefighters discovered on adult female burn patient who was in moderate condition and transported to a local area trauma hospital by AMR and treated on scene by Firefighter/Paramedics.
The fire had extended into the roof and attic space of Solar Max located at 3080 12th St, which is a historic structure used to manufacture WW2 equipment. The fire sprinkler system activated causing water damage to the ground floor, firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and contained the fire to the attic space. The structure suffered water, smoke and fire damage. The save on this structure is estimated at $26,000,000 with a lost of $200,000.
The business located at 3021 14th St, received minor fire damage to the exterior. The save on this structure is estimated at $200,000 with a loss of $5,000.
RPD assisted with traffic control.
Arson Investigators responded to the incident and the fire remains under investigation.
INITIAL:
On November 11th at 2256 Hours, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of dumpster fire reported near a building. Crews arrived on scene and found large piles of stored materials burning and threatening a large warehouse/office space. A total of 5 alarms responded to the incident. Fire department crews made an aggressive attack on the fire. The fire was contained to the outside storage area and the exposed office space. One patient was found with moderate burns and was transported to a local area hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
