Current Situation
At 1717 on 7/27/2023 the City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a smoke investigation call in the area of Doolittle and Morris. The initial unit saw a large column of smoke and requested a full vegetation response. On arrival they found approximately 1-2 acres of vegetation burning with a direct threat to neighboring businesses. Additional units were requested and an attack on the fire was initiated. The fire was brought under control at 1845 hours, with full extinguishment at 2100 hours. The final size of the fire was 6 acres, having burned in both light grass and dense vegetation in and around Hole Lake. There was very limited damage to a storage container to the rear of one of the businesses on Doolittle, but no damage to any structures. The cause of the fire was undetermined, but with human involvement as there were numerous homeless encampments in the burn area. There were no injuries to firefighters of civilians.
