Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire in the 10400 block of Killarney, in Ward 5. The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from the eaves and front door of a small, single-story home. Firefighters investigated and discovered a working fire in the kitchen. An aggressive interior attack was initiated, and the fire spread was limited to the kitchen and living room area. The family had been home at the time of the fire, however they were visiting with neighbors outside. An investigation determined a toaster oven to be the cause of the fire. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. There were 2 adults and 1 child displaced. They refused Red Cross services, stating they had family they could stay with.
