Current Situation
FINAL UPDATE - At 9:06 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024, the Riverside City Fire Department responded to a first alarm structure fire at a residential property located at the intersection of Hendrick and Jones. Initial responders arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and rear of the building. Fire crews aggressively battled the blaze, eventually determining that it originated in an inhabited detached garage before extending into the main structure. Fortunately, all occupants were safely evacuated without any injuries reported. Following an investigation by our arson investigator, the cause of the fire was attributed to faulty electrical wiring in the detached garage. Fortunately, there were no injuries sustained by civilians or firefighters during the incident. The fire required the combined efforts of 19 firefighters and took approximately 2.5 hours to fully extinguish the fire.
The City of Riverside is currently on scene in the 10300 block of Hedric for a fire originating in an occupied detached garage with a minor exposure into the main residential structure occupancy. Commitment time is approximately 2 hours. Station move-ups have taken place. Battalion 2 is the Hedrick Incident Commander. Currently there are no firefighters or civilian injuries.
