Current Situation
On August 26, 2024, at 6:51 a.m., the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a first alarm structure fire at Allied Auto Salvage, located at 1926 Spruce St. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a large pile of salvaged automobiles ablaze. Crews faced challenges with water supply and needed extended hose lays to reach the fire. There was an immediate threat to a neighboring business structure.
The response included one chief officer, three engines, a truck company, a squad, a safety officer, a fire prevention officer, and code enforcement personnel. Firefighters successfully contained the blaze to the burning pile, with assistance from salvage yard workers who used heavy machinery to break apart the pile, allowing for more effective extinguishment.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. No injuries were reported to either firefighters or civilians. Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement are conducting routine follow-up procedures to ensure the business complies with all regulations.
