    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:58 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire assignment to the 18000 block of Berry Road. Firefighters arrived on scene to report a fully involved attached garage to a two-story residential house.  Upon fire attack, firefighters reported ammunition popping off from the garage.   The fire was held to the garage and did not extend into the residential structure.  There was minimal damage inside the living area of the structure.  Firefighters had knock on the fire within 11 minutes of arrival of the first due engine and the fire was brought under full control 23 minutes after dispatch.

The occupants of the house evacuated prior to our arrival.   The dedicated arson investigator performed an investigation on scene by was unable to determine the cause due to the amount of damage within the garage.  Upon conclusion of the incident, the residence was turned back over to the homeowner who was advised not to turn the power back on to the structure until an approved electrician can isolate the garage.   There were two adults, and two children displaced from the fire seeking shelter in their motorhome.
