Current Situation
On January 16th, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a box alarm which was upgraded to a structure fire upon arrival of the first arriving unit. The first arriving engine reported a working fire inside a single story educational/physics building. Fire department crews made and aggressive attack on the fire and were able to keep it contained to the room of origin. All occupants safely evacuated prior to our arrival and all clear was confirmed by on scene units. The Hazardous Material Team also responded to augment scene and environmental testing specific to the Physics building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshalls Office. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
