    On January 20, 2025, at 3:47 a.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a medical emergency with a hiker on top of Sugarloaf Mountain located within the City of Riverside in the Box Springs Preserve.  Firefighters along with AMR hiked to the top of the mountain and located the patient with a group of hikers.  The incident also included the response of a chief officer and the City of Riverside Technical Rescue Team.  Fire department paramedics provided patient care and were able to hike the patient down a trail to AMR ambulance.  The patient was transported to a local area hospital. The City of Riverside is currently on scene of a Technical Rescue on Sugarloaf Mountain. Crews have hiked technical terrain and located one person suffering a medical emergency. The City of Riverside's Technical Rescue Team is currently on scene. At the moment, crews are providing aid and reviewing options for extraction of the downed hiker. Additional details will be released as they develop.
