RFD "Thinks Pink" to Increase Breast Cancer Awareness.

Riverside City Fire Department personnel are participating in several breast cancer awareness events in the month of October. On October 2, fire crews and staff attended the Breast Cancer Candlelight Vigil (benefitting The Pink Ribbon Place) at City Hall. The event included a special appearance by three of the "Pink Heals" fire engines and command vehicle followed by a book signing afterwards at the Salted Pig with Teresa Rhyne, author of "The Dog Lived (and So Will I)". Through the purchase of special pink t-shirts, RFD members raised over $300 in donations for the Pink Ribbon Place. The check was presented to them at the vigil.

RFD personnel (Team ThinkPink) will also be participating in the "Pink on Parade" 5K Run/Walk at Fairmount Park on October 27 at 9am. This event supports The Pink Ribbon Place, Riverside?s breast cancer resource center. To register online for the event, go to

Throughout the month of October, RFD personnel can help raise awareness of breast cancer and cancer research by wearing an approved, limited edition "Pink Ribbon" t-shirt on duty.
