Frequently Asked Questions

How does Library-to-Go/curbside service work? Please reserve materials by placing holds on items in the online catalog or by calling one of the libraries offering services to go. Staff will locate your items and place them in a paper bag. You will be notified according to your account preferences when items are available for pickup. You will have 7 days to pick up your holds. When you arrive at the library to pick up your items, please call the phone number displayed on signage in the parking lot with your library card number or Driver’s License and name. We will check your holds out to you and then we will place the bag on the table outside of the front door. Please allow staff to leave the pickup area completely and then you may claim the bag with your name. We do ask that you observe current city regulations by wearing a face covering and maintaining 6 feet of space while interacting with staff. All library staff will be wearing face coverings and gloves as well. Please note that staffing is limited and there may be a longer wait time. We appreciate your patience.

What locations can I go to?
Arlanza, Arlington, Casa Blanca, Eastside, La Sierra, Marcy, and Orange Terrace will all offer Library-to-Go. Main will not participate in Library-to-Go. It will remain closed as staff are preparing for the exciting move to the new location.

What hours is this service available?
Library pickups are available Tuesday to Thursday, 12-6pm and Friday and Saturday 11-5pm.

Who can check out at this time?
Anyone with a valid library card can borrow materials. This includes digital and computer use only cards. If you do not have a library card already, please see the website to apply for a digital card.

How do I find materials?
Physical materials can be found on the library’s online catalog. Place a hold on the catalog or call your library branch to request items. Please make sure you select materials located at the branch you wish to pick materials up from. There is no delivery between locations.

Can I request library materials to go to a separate location?
At this time, you may only request materials that each location owns. No items may be transferred to separate locations.

How many items can I request?
You may place 10 items on hold at one time for pickup.

How long will you hold my requests?
The library will hold your items for 7 days. After that we will check in your holds and send materials to the next customer in line or place back on the shelf.

How many items can I have checked out?
You may have 25 items at any one time checked out on your library account during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need assistance with this, please contact any of the libraries offering Library-to-Go.

How long will it take for my items to be ready for pickup?
The wait will depend on whether the items are available at your library, a different location, or if the items are checked out. If the items are available you should receive notice within a few days; if the item is checked out, your holds will be fulfilled as items are returned.

May I return items?
Yes. Materials can be returned to the outdoor bookdrops. Materials will be quarantined for 7 days before they are handled or checked in.

Will I accrue fines if I do not return my items?
We are not charging fines at this time. If you would like to pay any existing fines, online pay options are available on the library’s website.

I am having trouble placing holds with my library card. What do I do?
No problem. Please call during open hours and we would be more than happy to assist you. We can reset your PIN, extend expiration dates, and place holds if necessary.

What materials are available for pickup?
All circulating books, movies, and audiobooks are available for Library-to-Go. Toys and Storytime-to-Go kits are not available.

What if there is nothing on the shelf that I want?
You can contact a Library-to-Go location for assistance and suggestions or see the Cloudlibrary for eBooks and eAudiobooks. Digital magazines and newspapers are also available from Zinio, The Press-Enterprise online, and the New York Times online. Please see our website for details.

What if I have mobility concerns and need help when I get to the library?
Please notify the library for support and we can assist you.
