Responsibilities: Cheryl-Marie is responsible for managing the daily operations in the Mayor’s office, from strategy through implementation.
Education: Cheryl-Marie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino, a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis on College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne.
Passion: Mentoring first generation and under-represented students, because everybody deserves a break in life.
Responsibilities: Lalit directs and manages the Mayor’s efforts on international initiatives, economic development, and sustainability.
Education: Lalit has a Bachelor of Science in Genetics from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Doctorate in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Southern California. He is also a 2004 Leadership Riverside graduate.
Passion: Urban planning, writing, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Responsibilities: Phil works for both the Mayor and the City Manager. He communicates important messages about people and programs that make a difference in Riverside. He also liaisons with the City’s marketing team and public information officers from the Police and Fire departments and Riverside Public Utilities to ensure a coordinated response to all media inquiries.
Education: Phil has a Bachelor in English and Bachelor of Speech Communication from North Carolina State University. He is also a 2012 graduate of Leadership Riverside.
Passion: Helping Riverside residents be aware of what is going on in the community.
Responsibilities: Kathy is instrumental in keeping the Office of the Mayor running smoothly. She is responsible for managing Mayor Bailey’s calendar, the budget, and the office’s procurement. Kathy also coordinates special events for the office and is the point person for the Connect with the Mayor “walk events”. She coordinates several of the Mayor’s taskforces, including the Education Roundtable and the Purple City Alliance, an effort to ensure Riverside is dementia friendly.
Education: Kathy has an Associates of Science in Math and Science from Golden West College
Passion: Her Family and her Grandchildren.
Responsibilities: Cheryl Wills has several years of administrative experience supporting business owners. She is responsible for coordinating special events, such as Coffee with the Mayor. She maintains the front office, as well as coordinates reservations for meeting rooms, and manages requests for certificates and proclamations.
Education: Studied at Riverside City College and plans to work toward a degree in Business Administration.
Passion: Helping others whenever possible
Responsibilities: Elizabeth is a liaison between the Mayor’s Office and several boards and commissions, including Human Relations Commission, Multicultural Forum, College Forum, Latino Network and Youth Council. She also helps organize events and community interaction, including school visits to city hall and Bike with the Mayor.
Education: Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a concentration in History from Indiana University and is set to graduate with a Master of Public Administration from Villanova University in the Fall of 2018.
Passion: Supporting, nurturing and empowering children to be self-assured and ready to take on the world as responsible and civic-minded adults.
Responsibilities: Luke primarily serves as a representative for Office of the Mayor on a couple committees and commissions, including the Commission on Aging and Model Deaf Community Committee. He’s also working on the Mayor’s Love Your Neighbor initiative to end homelessness in the City of Riverside.
Education: Luke has a BA in English Literature from California State University, Fullerton and a MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) from University of Southern California. He also has two professional certificates: one from Georgetown University in Policy and Program Evaluation, and the second from the School of Hard Knocks for teaching three years in Washington, DC.
Passion: Luke is passionate about the intersection of local government and innovation as a vehicle for solving social challenges, in particular education and homelessness. When he’s not engaged in these pursuits, he enjoys cooking ethnic foods with his wife, hiking or riding his bike. He’s even been known to swing a golf club – with the ball going left, far left.
Responsibilities: Maisha is the Administrative Intern for the Office of the Mayor. She is responsible for coordinating the College Forum, a program that aims to engage Riverside’s college students to become more invested in the city, and she provides support for the Mayor’s faith-based homelessness initiative.
Education: Maisha has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the University of California, Riverside and is currently seeking a full-time permanent job. Who is hiring?
