Rededication Ceremony May 24, 2022 4 p.m. Main Street at 10th Street
The Military Wall of Honor project, initiated in December 1995, set in motion an endeavor to honor the Riverside residents who gave the ultimate sacrifice while on active duty in the armed services of the United States of America. On May 31, 1997, the goal came to fruition when the Military Wall of Honor monument was dedicated on the Main Street Pedestrian Mall near 10th Street. In the granite tablets of the monument are over 750 names of Riversiders who lost their lives between 1914 and 1997. Today, 25 years after its unveiling, this monument and its surrounds deserve modern enhancements. To honor the fallen and enhance this monument, Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson, in partnership with the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, has launched “Riverside Honors – A Campaign for the Riverside Military Wall of Honor” to seek funds that support the goal of this $100,000 enhancement project.
This project will include:
- New monument signage
- New concrete pathways
- New trees & landscaping
- Names of the fallen to present day
- Flags & insignias for all branches of military
- Endowment for perpetual care
