GASOLIER     (Picture...)

The gasolier -- the gas-lit ceiling fixture --is one of the originals in the house. Its two antique etched glass shades replace the originals which were missing at the time that restoration of the house began.

POLE SCREEN     (Picture...)

The leather frame of this pole screen is made to look like carved wood. The screen is a tapestry of a macaw sitting on a basket of flowers, incorporating several techniques, including petit point stitches, hooked and clipped sections, and beadwork. It is believed to date from approximately 1850.

EMPIRE STYLE TABLE      ( Picture...)

The Empire style table is of walnut and features drop-leaves at each side. Its heavy scroll legs are typical of neoclassical furniture. This table is from approximately 1830, emphasizing that people, then as now, enjoyed antiques and heirlooms within their home decor.

LIQUEUR CHEST     (Picture...)

This rosewood and mahogany inlay chest contains bottles and glasses for liqueurs and dates from approximately 1860.

FRENCH CABINET     (Picture...)

This circa 1890 French cabinet features veneered walnut and rosewood with ormolu trim.

SOUVENIR PLATE DEPICTING MAGNOLIA AVE.  ON TOP OF FRENCH CABINET   (Picture...)

This late nineteenth century souvenir plate features Magnolia Avenue, which runs right in front of the house. The Magnolia Avenue streetscape --as laid out in 1876 with eucalyptus, live oak, and palms in the center median and parkways-- set a national precedent in scenic urban landscaping.
