Project Overview:
The City of Riverside is advancing the South Main Complete Streets Project as part of the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant program. This Project aims to bring street improvements previously identified in the Northside Specific Plan Project to Main Street—between Third Street and the State Route 60 freeway—to make the corridor safer, more accessible, and easier to navigate for everyone who lives, works, shops, or travels through the area.
Planned improvements include:
- Expansion of parking capacity and accessibility for business patrons, including new diagonal parking options along the center of the street
- Sidewalk accessibility and (Class II) bike lanes along both sides of the street
- Traffic calming measures such as high-visibility crosswalks, curb extensions, speed feedback signs, pedestrian signals, and reduced speed limits.
Project Schedule:
How to Get Involved
As the project advances, this initial phase will focus on revalidating the public feedback received from the 2018 Northside Specific Plan and reintroduce alternatives and community values. There will be several opportunities to learn more and ask questions throughout the process.
