Assembly Bill 1826

Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling

AB 1826 requires businesses, commercial centers, and multifamily residential dwellings with five or more units, that generate two cubic yards or more of organic waste per week, to arrange for ongoing organic waste recycling services as of July 1, 2020. Organic waste includes plate scrapings, spoiled food, and excess food inventory. To assist you with this law, contact your waste hauler to arrange for recycling services or to apply for an exemption.  Please visit their website for further information.
