Man Arrested After Armed Robbery



Riverside, Ca- On Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 1845 hours, a silent robbery alarm was received in Police Communications for the Payless Shoe store at 6948 Magnolia. Several minutes later a 9-1-1 call was received from a patron in the bathroom of the business. The patron advised dispatchers there was an armed robbery in progress. Sergeant Bruce Blomdahl was the first officer to arrive and observed the robbery in progress. When the suspect attempted to flee the store, Sergeant Blomdahl confronted the armed suspect and arrested him without incident. There were no shots fired or injuries as a result of this incident.

The suspect, Johnnie Lee Barnes Jr., 39, of Riverside, was also identified as the suspect who robbed the same store on December 12th. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside on two counts of armed robbery.
