Riverside, Ca- On October 16, 2005, at 1:53pm, 44
year-old Nathaniel Porter was pulling into his driveway in the 3700 block
of Verde Street driving his 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo. Mr. Porter’s 6-year-old son
was riding his bicycle in the driveway when the vehicle accelerated over the
curb and struck the boy near the garage area. The vehicle then struck the side
of the garage and stopped.
A witness called in the accident and the Riverside Fire and Police Departments
were sent to the scene. The Paramedics treated the child at the scene for
multiple traumatic injuries and then transported him to the Riverside Community
Hospital. The child was pronounced deceased at the hospital as a result of his
injuries.
Further details of the collision are pending and Nathaniel Porter was arrested
after an initial investigation and booked into the Robert Presley Detention
Center.
Members of the Riverside Police Department’s (M.A.I.T.) Major Accident
Investigation Team responded and the collision is under investigation. Anyone
