Riverside, Ca- On September 18, 2005, at about 5
p.m., officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to the Greyhound
Bus Terminal at 3911 University Avenue to investigate a strong-arm robbery.
When officers arrived witnesses and the victim immediately directed them toward a taxicab containing three black males and a Hispanic female that was leaving the parking lot. Officers stopped the taxicab and detained the four passengers.
The 15 year old male Hispanic victim told officers he was waiting for a bus when three black males and a Hispanic female approached him and asked for money. When he declined to give them any money, the three black males attacked him and took his wallet and his watch.
All four passengers were identified as the assailants by the victim and witnesses and were arrested. Two of the suspects were in possession of the victimís property when they were arrested.
While officers were investigating this incident, a female juvenile, 17, contacted them and told them that her purse had been stolen earlier in the day by two of the male suspects they were detaining.
The female victim, who works at a nearby restaurant, told officers she was the only employee working and was sitting at one of the tables doing her homework when the two suspects came into the restaurant. When she went behind the counter to help them, she left her backpack containing her purse on the table where she was sitting. One of the suspects distracted her at the counter by asking questions about the menu while the other stood near the table where she was sitting. When the suspects left, she noticed her purse was missing from her backpack. She identified both suspects. When arrested, one of the suspects was in possession of the victimís identification card and ATM card.
