Arrest of attempted murder suspect

Riverside, Ca- The suspect in a late-night shooting incident July 27 outside a Riverside bar was arrested August 2 near his home following the coordinated effort of several police units.

Terry WHITE, 34, had a chance encounter with a former employer at The Sire, the 6400-block of Magnolia Avenue on Wednesday evening, July 26. There was an argument and White left the bar. Shortly after midnight, as the victim and his brother left the establishment and entered the rear parking lot, they encountered White, allegedly armed with a firearm. The suspect fired a single shot in the direction of the men and fled. Patrol units, K-9 teams and the police helicopter were involved in the immediate search but the suspect was not located at that time.

Investigation by Detectives identified the suspect and plans were made for peaceful surrender of the suspect and the weapon but the suspect failed to follow through on the arrangement. The suspect vehicle was located August 2 at a residence near the intersection of Brockton and Arlington avenues. Members of the Riverside Police METRO (SWAT) team, aided by members of the Parole and Corrections Team (PACT), set up a surveillance perimeter. When suspect White was seen leaving the residence in the suspect vehicle, METRO officers moved in and arrested White without incident shortly after 1 p.m. The weapon was not recovered during the arrest.

White was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of Attempted Murder.
