Traffic Collision

Riverside, Ca- Tonight at approximately 10:00 pm, a 2004 Chevy Blazer SUV collided with a 2005 Chevy Venture van at the intersection of Mission Inn and Brockton. According to witnesses, the 31 year-old female driver of the Blazer failed to stop for the red signal at northbound Brockton. The vehicle collided with the Venture, which was eastbound Mission Inn on a green signal.

The Venture rolled onto its side, trapping the 31 year-old male driver and his wife (28), his mother in law (50), his niece (14), and his daughter (6 months). The Riverside Fire Department arrived and removed the occupants. The family was taken by ambulance to Riverside Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Blazer drove away from the scene of the collision and was followed by witnesses to the area of Pacific and Canal, in Rubidoux. RPD officers arrived and arrested the driver without incident. She was taken to Riverside Community Hospital where she was treated and released. She was then booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for felony hit & run, along with suspicion of DUI causing injuries.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.
