Restaurant robberies suspects caught

Riverside, Ca- Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday night, February 28, 2006, following the armed robbery of two fast food restaurants in the city’s North end.

The helicopter unit, Metro Team tactical officers and the K-9 team all took part in containing and apprehending the suspects after fleeing the scene of the second robbery.

Riverside Police first responded to a report at 7:05 p.m. that three suspects armed with handguns had robbed the MGM Burgers restaurant at Main Street and Strong Street, and fled by vehicle.

At 9:50 p.m., Police received a report of another armed robbery of the Del Taco restaurant in the 6300-block of Riverside Avenue. Air One, the Police helicopter, was over the scene within seconds and observed a car traveling eastbound from the scene. Persons were seen running from the vehicle toward the 91 freeway, where the suspects tried to obscure themselves in roadside shrubbery. A perimeter was established. K9 units located two of the suspects and a citizen reported the location of the third suspect. All three suspects, juvenile males from Rubidoux, ages 16 and 17, were in custody by 11:30 p.m. Evidence collected at the scene linked the suspects to the two robberies.
