Protecting Kids Online

Riverside, Ca- Do you know what your kids are doing on the Internet? Parents often aren’t aware of the latest trends in social networking; both parents and their children may be unaware of the dangers associated with popular Internet networking web sites.

Recent media attention has been given to myspace.com but that is one of many sites popular with teens and young adults – and, occasionally, predators. Networking sites are also convenient ways for troublemakers in schools to communicate with each other, and with wider audiences.

The Riverside Police Department is hosting an evening workshop to acquaint parents with the good and bad uses, the potential and the problems, associated with cyber social networking web sites so popular with teens and pre-teens.

Join Detective Dan Flores, a computer forensics investigator, and School Resource Officer Chris Wagner, to learn more about networking sites and what “everybody” is doing online.
