Major Injury Traffic Collision – Single Vehicle

Riverside, Ca- On September 16, 2006, at 1250 hours, officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision between a vehicle and sign trailer. The collision occurred when, for an unknown reason, a 1990 Ford Festiva traveling east on Dewey crossed over toward the south curb line just east of Liberty striking the rear of a legally parked sign trailer that was attached to a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The Ford continued northeast across Dewey and up the gravel embankment, then rolled back into the westbound lane. The driver, a 75 woman who resides in Riverside, sustained unknown traumatic injuries and was unconscious when Riverside Police and Fire arrived at the scene. She was taken to Riverside Community hospital where the Emergency Room Staff treated her for a collapsed lung and other injuries. She is listed in critical condition.

Members of the Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Rick Prince at 353-7990.
