Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Traffic Collision

Riverside, Ca- On February 8, 2007 at 5:50 pm, members of the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to a major injury traffic collision on Brockton at Oakwood. The collision involved a vehicle into a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and found the pedestrian deceased.

A 21-year-old male was driving his 2002 Volvo sedan southbound on Brockton, in the #2 lane, approaching Oakwood. He had two male passengers in the vehicle with him. Another vehicle passed them in the #1 southbound lane. After the vehicle passed, their Volvo struck the pedestrian. The driver did not see where he came from. One of the passengers saw the pedestrian crossing westbound at Oakwood and into the path of their car. The pedestrian rode on the hood for a short time before falling to the ground. The driver then lost control and struck a fire hydrant at Brockton and Maplewood. The occupants of the vehicle were not injured. The male pedestrian has not been identified.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Joe Avila at (951) 353-7985.
