Guns, drugs seized in gang search warrants

Riverside, Ca- Almost 100 law enforcement officers coordinated by the Riverside Police Department Gang Unit served a series of gang-related search warrants on 12 residences in Riverside’s Casa Blanca neighborhood Thursday morning.

The simultaneous searches were carried out on homes associated with two rival street gangs. The searches resulted in two arrests and the seizure of six assault rifles (one of them fully automatic, with a silencer), two handguns and one rifle, as well as a half-pound of marijuana, two ounces of high-grade “ice” methamphetamine, scales and packaging, $4,000 in cash, a bulletproof vest and an array of gang-related paraphernalia.

Three males were taken into custody and two were booked on drug and firearms charges: Victor AGUILAR, 26, and Adrian John GONZALEZ, 21, both of Riverside. The third male was released pending additional investigation. A fourth suspect, Rudy HERNANDEZ, 18, of Riverside, is wanted on attempted murder charges and is still at large.

All of the search warrant locations were secure within 10 minutes. There were no injuries to any party. Member of several allied agencies joined RPD in the safe and successful execution of these warrants. The warrants were the result of information developed by Riverside Police Patrol Officers and Gang Unit investigators.

The Casa Blanca area has experienced an increase in gang- related gun violence, beginning in August 2006, including the City’s three most recent homicides (Nov. 18 and Dec. 13) and a pair of attempted homicide incidents (Jan. 10 and 12). All of these investigations remain open.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact Riverside Police Detective Gary Toussaint at (951) 353-7238.
