The Agency funded a portion of the expansion and rehabilitation of the existing 5,000-square-foot historic library, which added 8,000 square feet, for a total new library space of approximately 13,000 square feet.

In 1991, the Agency funded property acquisition, design and construction of the new Casa Blanca Library, the City’s first new library in over 20 years, replacing the former small facility. Recently the Agency completed interior renovations of the Casa Blanca Library, including new book shelves, signage and electrical upgrades, improving energy efficiency and making the library more user-friendly.

Completed in 2010, the new 10,000-square-foot Arlanza Library on Philbin Avenue between Picker and Wohlstetter Streets provides access to technology, literacy instruction and youth services in the Arlanza community. The library features a dedicated children’s area, adult reading area, community meeting room, and more than 70 public access computers.

The Agency funded acquisition, design and building renovations to make the new, larger, Marcy Library possible. The 18,000-square-foot building will house the library on the first floor and the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department on the second floor.

The Agency assisted Riverside Unified School District to help replace the grass athletic field with state-of-the-art synthetic turf at Ramona High School. Ramona and Arlington High Schools, Pop Warner and Junior All-American football programs are proud to call this new turf field "home."
The Agency partnered with the Riverside Community College District in the construction of this world class aquatics facilities, which features an Olympic-sized swimming pool with a competitive dive tower that will host regional aquatic events in diving, water polo, and swimming.
The Redevelopment Agency purchased the former Rouse Department Store building to assist UC Riverside with the expansion of the UCR Arts Block. The new center provides classroom space, dance studios, a movie screening room and exhibit space for the University arts programs and will feature a café on the ground floor.

The Agency, in partnership with the City, funded the construction of six classrooms, a community meeting room, offices, kitchen, cafeteria/assembly room and an outdoor children’s play area to provide much needed education and recreational space to serve the Eastside neighborhood.
