In alliance with the Riverside University Health System, City of Riverside (Park, Recreation, and Community Services Department), and Alvord Unified School District, RUSD is partnering to host a city-wide summer kickoff event to promote health and wellness endeavors. Held on June 5th at Hunt Park, the “Riverside Summerfest” will connect families with free or low-cost resources available in the city while encouraging healthy eating and physical activity. RUSD will be providing a barbeque lunch for all families at the kickoff that day. There will be booths that showcase our state-of-the-art parks, local businesses, youth groups, health organizations, and activities geared towards the wellbeing of our Riverside residents. This summer kickoff intends to demonstrate the capacity of these partnerships to be catalysts for change in a way that makes health, fresh eating and physical activity more accessible to our residents. We envision this summer kickoff to not only be a celebration of the wellness efforts already happening in the city but also as a launch for many more local partnerships and programs.
