Zine-Making with Found Materials

01/29/2025 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm

This program will introduce students to the history of zine-making and explore various methods of visual communication. Beginning with an interactive presentation, participants will learn about historical modes of presenting text and images, from the invention of the printing press to contemporary independent publishing.

Following the presentation, learners will use provided imagery to design and collage their own zine. They'll be introduced to a range of DIY publishing and binding techniques, empowering them to transform their personal interests into a tangible booklet form.

The final deliverable will be a staple-bound, 8-page zine for each participant. This program emphasizes low-cost, accessible methods for distributing artwork and ideas while introducing foundational principles of design.

This workshop will be led by Gluck Fellow Rachel Jackson.
