Whether you are looking to complete hours for a school requirement or just want to give back to the community, the library is a great place to volunteer!
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and able to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) background check set up through City Hall.
Volunteer Process
To become a volunteer with us, follow these steps:
- Create an account and see which libraries have volunteer opportunities at https://riversideca.cervistech.com/.
- Scroll through all City of Riverside opportunities or save time by clicking “Search Opportunities by Interest, Location, Date, or Keyword” and choosing “Library” from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the opportunity you are interested in and choose “Apply to participate.”
- Pro Tip: Stop by the library or call and talk to your local Volunteer Coordinator. This makes sure they see your application and can put a face to the name.
- You will be notified once your application has been reviewed. If they choose to move forward with you, great!
- Keep an eye out for an email or phone call about setting up a processing appointment. This process is done through Human Resources and will take place at City Hall.
- You will be notified (usually by email) once you clear.
We ask for a commitment of at least 30 hours (total) at one library before you switch to a different library. Please note that the library is unable to accept court-ordered volunteers.
