DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERY AT LOCAL PHARMACY
RIVERSIDE, CA – On Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Riverside Police Officers responded to the Riverside Medical Pharmacy, located in the 6700 block of Indiana Avenue, for a reported armed robbery that just occurred. Suspects wearing masks and gloves entered the business, one of whom was armed with a handgun. They robbed both personal property from the five employees, along with prescription drugs and money from the pharmacy, before fleeing in a dark colored vehicle.
Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with Specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They have been assisted by the Crime Analysis Unit.
Investigators quickly determined the license plate on the suspect vehicle and identified one of the robbery suspects as 28-year-old Shawn Andre Bias of Los Angeles. On June 22nd, California Highway Patrol Officers located and stopped this suspect vehicle along the 91 Freeway at Interstate 15 being driven by Mr. Bias. Detectives responded and took custody of the suspect and suspect vehicle, and Mr. Bias was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for multiple counts of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, kidnapping to commit armed robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and conspiracy.
Continuing with their investigation, detectives identified two other suspects involved in the armed robbery as 22-year-old Kyle Jahlil Johnson and 22-year-old Michael Scott McCain, both from Los Angeles.
On July 2nd and with assistance from the Riverside Police Department’s METRO and SWAT Teams, and the Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT Team, detectives served search warrants at three residences in Los Angeles where these suspects reside.
Mr. Johnson was located at his residence and arrested. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for multiple counts of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, kidnapping to commit armed robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and conspiracy.
Mr. McCain was not at home during the search warrant at his Los Angeles home but turned himself in to detectives the next day on July 3rd. He was arrested and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for multiple counts of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, kidnapping to commit armed robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and conspiracy.
Evidence linking these suspects to the armed robbery was located during the search warrants. Detectives also obtained bail enhancements on all three suspects, who remain in custody on one million dollars’ bail each.
